Today Dana, my cousin Stav, and I walked around Tel Aviv, which always involves lots of food – eating at cafes, buying snacks at the market, and checking out the gorgeous produce pretty much everywhere. I am nearly falling asleep at the computer, so I’ll keep the musings to a minimum…

Lunch at family friend Roni’s bratwurst stand Frank’s (I didn’t even think I liked brats…):

And escaping the wildness of the street fair at LovEAT Organic Cafe for some “cafe barad” (like a frappucino only amazing) and halva pastry deliciousness:

And one last shot for the day. This sight used to make me drool:

Strolling by Tel Aviv beach yesterday (on my mom’s birthday), which is two blocks from the apartment, I snapped some shots that reminded me of my parents’ photos from the ’70s.

It’s 2am, and I’m stuffed silly from a really delicious and fun Passover seder…

So just a quick post of E at the Dead Sea – and yes, it looks like it could be one of many bodies of water, but note the floating man in the background of the left-hand shot:

YAY! I can’t believe we are a few hours from being en route to Israel. We haven’t been since 2007, and this time, my sister, brother-in-law, and little E are temporary residents – and we’ll all be staying together in our own apartment in Tel Aviv. I am craving that energy of Israel as well as the 24/7 time spent with my family (yep, that’s right) and the two-week vacation I’m so ready for.

Before I go, I’ve been wanting to post some photos from the Stulberg family session (i.e., my sister’s in-laws, although that sounds like they’re more removed from us than they are). We’ll be seeing them in Israel in a few days!

Warning – it’s a long one…

First, I cannot wait to squish this guy tomorrow:

and these three Tel Aviv-ians:

Grandparents Bubbie and Zadie with grandsons Nathan and E:

And just Zadie with his boys (who appear to be annoyed by each other):

And check out Zadie with the boys at one and two weeks old.

And Bubbie:

And her photo with the newborns.

Ben and Nathan:

And E loving Uncle J’s Sox hat (which is coming with us to Israel):

Some love from Uncle Ben (hee – love that E has an Uncle Ben and an Uncle Sam):

A snuggle from Bubbie:

And lastly, because I want in on the love, I’m reposting this shot of me and E:

Next post will be from Tel Aviv!

J and I are heading back to Sarasota today. Not sure why I thought two weeks would seem like plenty, or enough, but they sped right by…

The visit was so great, jam-packed with both jobs and family/E time… and the weather really wasn’t so bad. Apparently it hasn’t been too amazing in Florida anyway.

I have lots more photo previews and full sessions to post about, but for now, here are some of the things I loved about spending every day with E, along with photo from yesterday at the art museum (yes, I try to eat him sometimes):

With E

  • Snoozing together in the very early hours of the morning
  • Reading Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? and Goodnight Moon
  • Sleepy bathtime
  • Our snowy walk during Lauren’s visit
  • Tickling his belly and hearing him laugh so hard he had to take deep breaths
  • Putting him in a shopping cart for the first time at Trader Joe’s
  • Driving around really pretty snowy neighborhoods while he napped to his really pretty lullaby CD
  • Him falling in my arms after a very drowsy but anti-nap morning
  • The best day of his life after a few days of being under the weather
  • Picking him up after naps, from which he wakes up with huge smiles
  • Watching his second tooth sprout through so that he now officially has a toothy grin
  • …And a million other things – I realize they’re probably just amazing to me

So, back to Florida. I hope no one notices that I have E in my jacket…

We are headed to Cleveland today. Off to spend two weeks with this little one…

Super E

…Yep, he’s super, all right. (Wasn’t his handmade Halloween costume sweet?! My sister is ridiculous.)

I’ll be posting from the wintry weather, cozied up with the little man.
