Whitney was such a great model. I don’t do high school senior portraits that often, but they’re always fun, even when we have to endure very chilly winds for some outdoor photos.

Congrats to Whitney on almost being a high school graduate!

To complement Chad’s bar mitzvah photos, his mom Marla and I set up a little shoot at their house to make sure their beloved dogs made it into the bar mitzvah album, too! Puppies Oliver, Max, and Pete were gorgeous and so sweet. Even my dog-fearing assistant husband thought little Ollie was adorable. Max is the fun-loving big brother type, and Pete is the senior in the crew… mostly chills off to the side, overseeing the hyper young ones.

We shockingly got all three dogs in one shot, albeit not posing perfectly (which I like better anyway) 🙂 – Here’s the whole crew:

Chad, Marla, Dana, and Seth

We had a gorgeously snowy, mild day, so we spent most of the time outside playing in the snow (and laughing really hard).

Pete didn’t feel like running around that day, but Oliver and Max had fun with Dana and Chad:

Dana & Chad

The dogs had so much fun (including Pete with his rest on the couch):

We brought Pete outside for a bit, but he wasn’t really into it. I love this shot, though. 🙂

One last photo of the cute brother and sister!

Thank you, Chad, Dana, Marla, Seth, and doggies for an awesome wintry shoot! It was too much fun!

The main reason for this trip to Cleveland in not-so-toasty February was to photograph Chad’s bar mitzvah this past weekend. (I’m loving the events lately – a New Year’s wedding in Boston, a Sarasota Sweet 16, and now the Cleveland bar mitzvah – such great times!)

Chad and his family were amazing – so welcoming, fun, and sweet… and when did 13-year-olds become so awesome?! They partied from early evening until late in the night, dancing up a storm (I especially loved the impromptu “Dougie” performance by three of Chad’s friends – someone please share a video) and celebrating with Chad.

Here’s a collage of some highlights:

And a shot of Chad and his family after the morning services:

Excited to photograph the family session over the weekend!

Last week, I posted some shots of gorgeous Vivi before her big Sweet 16 party. Here are a few more from last week’s session:

Vivi

Vivi

I love looking at these two shots of the family back to back:  🙂

Now for Vivi’s party Saturday night… Everyone had so much fun, they extended the party until 2am! There was food and dancing, dancing, dancing, with two really great DJs, a performance by Simple as Surgery, and late-night dance tunes by a live band accompanying cotillón (or “crazy hour”), a Latin party tradition.

Here’s a collage of some of my favorite shots (everyone wore black and white, and Vivi had two purple dresses :-)). (That’s a virgin sour apple martini, by the way…)

In preparation for her upcoming Sweet 16, we shot some photos of Vivi and her family by their gorgeous home. I’m excited to photograph her big party this weekend!

She swears to me she’s never done any modeling, but I find that hard to believe, no??

Vivi

I mean, come on…

Vivi

Vivi

The camera loves her, as they say.

Her family’s not too bad, either. 🙂 So fun and easy to photograph – I love it!

One last shot of Vivi (for now). I’m obsessed.

Vivi

Sheesh, she’s gorg.

Saving the photos of Vivi in her super-fun dress to keep it as a surprise for the guests. 🙂

Happy weekend!

I love photographing children, love it. But teenagers are in their own category, and I have so much fun on shoots with them (even though they usually make me feel old; when did that happen??). Teenagers/high school students have the right blend of confidence and, at least for the one hour they’re with me, discipline. They will do what I tell them and look great doing it, but they also come up with their own ideas, which are usually pretty awesome…

For example, Blaise picked our location, and it was perfect. Go Blaise!

Check him out:

Blaise

And I love this close-up:

One last shot, one of my favorites:

We also included Blaise’s 13-year-old sister, Mia, in the shoot – photos of her and the two of them to come.

Thanks for the great shoot and awesome location, Blaise!

I love this family. In May, I had a session with 6-year-old McKenzie, and she was just too sweet. Her grandparents (they look way too young for me to be able to say that), Lisa and John, came along for the shoot, but this time, I got to photograph them with their super-handsome son Charlie, who just started his senior year of high school.

One thing I love about working so much with kids is that they are truly themselves (most of the time) when I’m photographing them. It’s usually much harder for adults to be natural in front of the camera. Charlie and his parents threw that concept out the window. Good looks, photogenic subjects, great personalities, and a fun location all made for an awesome shoot. 🙂

Check out the gorgeous trio:

Lisa, Charlie, and John

And again… Can you tell they were having fun? I love it!

John, Charlie, and Lisa

Now here’s Charlie testing out his modeling skills (so handsome, right?! and the camera does not hate him):

Ellie P. Campbell Photography 2009-2010It’s my one-year anniversary as Ellie P. Campbell Photography. 🙂

(Well, yesterday was, but I didn’t have time to post about it.) Although I did photography well before August 2009, this is celebrating one official year on my own. As with most things all-consuming yet wonderful, it feels like this past year has flown by but also as if I’ve been doing this for years and years. I absolutely love what I do and am very happy to be where I am.

Here’s a very long photo-year-in-review…

A shot from my first official shoot on August 1, 2009 of beautiful Eva and her gorgeous little guy Julian:

Julian and Eva

Followed by E’s birth just a couple of weeks later (and thus began my camera’s love affair with my very edible nephew):

Newborn E

And then I photographed the marriage of our great friends Larry and Erin (i.e. Larin) – full blog post here:

Larin

Then there were many fall little-ones shoots in Cleveland, like for the amazing Lily:

Lily

And December babies, like Anabella:

Anabella

With the holiday season came photographing E for their New Year‘s card… (don’t you want to ring in the New Year with this scrumptious little barkeep?):

Ethan New Year

During our lovely Floridian winter, Talia and I shot the campaign for her company, Green Apple Accessories:

Talia - Green Apple Accessories

Then in February, there was a snowy trip to Cleveland, filled with lots of fun wintry shoots, like with E’s cousin Nathan (here with his mama Jill):

Nathan and Jill

…and of course some shoots indoors to defrost, like with this awesome crew – Brad, baby Alexander (so many baby boys!), and Christina:

Brad, Alexander, and Christina

There was this super-fun family session… Here are the adoring grandparents Marcia and Richard with three of their lucky grandkids, Cadence, Brian, and Cadence’s little brother JT:

Cadence, Marcia, Brian, Richard, and JT

Then we had an incredible family trip to Israel, visiting family, touring the country, and putting E in fun antique chairs at the Yafo flea market:

E in Yaffo

A few hours after getting off the plane from Israel, my work with the Sarasota Film Festival started – This was the first (and hopefully not the last) year I was a staff photographer. There were a bunch of events that week, including the In Conversation with… series with people such as Patricia Clarkson and Vincent D’Onofrio:

Vincent D'Onofrio

And incredible hooping performance outside the premiere of The Hooping Life:

Hoola Monsters

And more fun stars like Stanley Tucci and Steve Buscemi:

Stanley Tucci and Steve Buscemi

Beautiful Ava was born in the spring…

Ava and Holli

Also in the spring, my super-smart brother-in-law Jonah received his MD and PhD simultaneously and then became published in JAMA:

Jonah

Babies I’d met and photographed as newborns (both friends and clients) began walking and having birthdays, like little Sydney:

Syd

There were also some “older” clients during May’s Cleveland trip, like the beautiful 6-year-old McKenzie:

McKenzie

Later in May in Boston, this striking and happy duo, Lucy and Chase, were engaged:

LBP & JCJ

Also in Boston, I photographed the gorgeous bffs, Danielle and Abigail:

Danielle and Abigail

Back in FL, this summer started off with a bunch of newborns, like the precious tiny Gia:

Gia

And also one really touching 50th anniversary shoot for Ron and Sonia:

Ron and Sonia

To round out the summer of babies and anniversaries and to top off an amazing first year as Ellie P. Campbell Photography, there was Molly and Lou‘s beautiful beach wedding on Islamorada, FL in July:

Molly and Lou

I am so, so grateful for and excited about how this past year has turned out. I’m lucky to have a husband, family, and friends who have encouraged me to go for it as well as to have incredible clients who let me share in so many intimate, special moments and events in their lives and who have made my job fun and inspiring. I am looking forward to what unfolds over the next year! Thank you, everyone!

Last week, I posted some photos of the beautiful Abigail (my sister-in-law) and Danielle. As promised, here are some photos of just Danielle (these are for you, Debbie!)…

Look at those eyes (and they match her hair!):

Danielle

And a few others:

Danielle

I absolutely loved photographing Danielle and Abby. I’m flashing forward to 2014 when they’re graduating high school, doing this again… Wild.
