Jess & Craig got married in July on a beautiful day in Boston. Jess looked stunning, and Craig was a very handsome and happy groom! They were surrounded by an intimate group of friends and some family in Beacon Hill for a touching courtyard ceremony, the flowers were rustic yet elegant (and amazing), Jess’ dress was perfectly simple (the bridesmaids rocked the white dresses, too!), and everyone danced the night away.

Here are some of my favorites from the day…

Happy New Year!

I rang in 2011 by capturing the wedding of Kate & Adam in Boston. Apart from having to wake up at 6am to catch our flight back to Sarasota (and 77 degrees – yay!), it was such a great experience. Kate is the most laid-back bride I’ve ever seen (although it may be a tie with Molly), and I felt like I’d known the two of them and their family for years – even though I only met them on wedding day! Everyone, from the bridal party to Kate & Adam’s families to the band (Night Rhythm) to the reception staff, was so nice and fun.

They had a beautiful candlelit ceremony at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in the South End followed by a New Year’s celebration and reception at The Colonnade Hotel.

I have tons of photos to go through, but here’s a little sneak peek…

Kate had really wanted sparklers on their wedding cake, but it wasn’t allowed at the hotel. Instead, her mom arranged for the newlyweds to be welcomed at their reception by dozens of sparklers. It took a bit of planning, with some detouring of the limo to make sure the surprise wasn’t ruined, and it turned out perfectly. Nice work, Geri! Plus, I think this is one of my favorite shots – so happy, vibrant, fun, and festive!

Kate & Adam

Backtracking to the ceremony… Another of my favorites. Such a gorgeous bride, stunning setting, happy, happy groom…

Kate & Adam

Last photo for today… One of the first from 2011. I absolutely love the energy from Kate & Adam (and everyone else, actually!). They are not having a bad time. 🙂

Kate & Adam

Congratulations, Kate & Adam! Thanks for asking me to photograph your beautiful wedding day. 🙂

You might remember Mykal from earlier this past summer as he was turning 5. I know that I’m biased because he’s family, but isn’t he so handsome with crazy beautiful eyes?! So great to photograph, too – filled with curiosity and energy. Well, we went back to the Arnold Arboretum this August with his cousins and best friends, Ian, 9, and Noah, 11. I thought I’d seen Mykal hyped up before… Nothing compared to his excitement at hanging with his older cousins. These three were such fun to shoot… We ran up and down hills, climbed trees (well, they did), and scaled rocks (again, they did).

Here they are, semi-resting (giggling and wrestling the whole time):

Ian, Mykal, and Noah

And the energetic trio having fun:

Mykal, Ian, and Noah

We managed to get them to sit still for a couple of minutes for a big family shot:

Tina, Myke, Mykal, Noah, Ian, Courtney, and Jim

And this one makes me laugh, so I thought I’d add it on… Squished together, climbing a tree, and making crazy faces makes for a good time!

Ellie P. Campbell Photography 2009-2010It’s my one-year anniversary as Ellie P. Campbell Photography. 🙂

(Well, yesterday was, but I didn’t have time to post about it.) Although I did photography well before August 2009, this is celebrating one official year on my own. As with most things all-consuming yet wonderful, it feels like this past year has flown by but also as if I’ve been doing this for years and years. I absolutely love what I do and am very happy to be where I am.

Here’s a very long photo-year-in-review…

A shot from my first official shoot on August 1, 2009 of beautiful Eva and her gorgeous little guy Julian:

Julian and Eva

Followed by E’s birth just a couple of weeks later (and thus began my camera’s love affair with my very edible nephew):

Newborn E

And then I photographed the marriage of our great friends Larry and Erin (i.e. Larin) – full blog post here:

Larin

Then there were many fall little-ones shoots in Cleveland, like for the amazing Lily:

Lily

And December babies, like Anabella:

Anabella

With the holiday season came photographing E for their New Year‘s card… (don’t you want to ring in the New Year with this scrumptious little barkeep?):

Ethan New Year

During our lovely Floridian winter, Talia and I shot the campaign for her company, Green Apple Accessories:

Talia - Green Apple Accessories

Then in February, there was a snowy trip to Cleveland, filled with lots of fun wintry shoots, like with E’s cousin Nathan (here with his mama Jill):

Nathan and Jill

…and of course some shoots indoors to defrost, like with this awesome crew – Brad, baby Alexander (so many baby boys!), and Christina:

Brad, Alexander, and Christina

There was this super-fun family session… Here are the adoring grandparents Marcia and Richard with three of their lucky grandkids, Cadence, Brian, and Cadence’s little brother JT:

Cadence, Marcia, Brian, Richard, and JT

Then we had an incredible family trip to Israel, visiting family, touring the country, and putting E in fun antique chairs at the Yafo flea market:

E in Yaffo

A few hours after getting off the plane from Israel, my work with the Sarasota Film Festival started – This was the first (and hopefully not the last) year I was a staff photographer. There were a bunch of events that week, including the In Conversation with… series with people such as Patricia Clarkson and Vincent D’Onofrio:

And incredible hooping performance outside the premiere of The Hooping Life:

Hoola Monsters

And more fun stars like Stanley Tucci and Steve Buscemi:

Beautiful Ava was born in the spring…

Also in the spring, my super-smart brother-in-law Jonah received his MD and PhD simultaneously and then became published in JAMA:

Jonah

Babies I’d met and photographed as newborns (both friends and clients) began walking and having birthdays, like little Sydney:

Syd

There were also some “older” clients during May’s Cleveland trip, like the beautiful 6-year-old McKenzie:

McKenzie

Later in May in Boston, this striking and happy duo, Lucy and Chase, were engaged:

LBP & JCJ

Also in Boston, I photographed the gorgeous bffs, Danielle and Abigail:

Danielle and Abigail

Back in FL, this summer started off with a bunch of newborns, like the precious tiny Gia:

Gia

And also one really touching 50th anniversary shoot for Ron and Sonia:

Ron and Sonia

To round out the summer of babies and anniversaries and to top off an amazing first year as Ellie P. Campbell Photography, there was Molly and Lou‘s beautiful beach wedding on Islamorada, FL in July:

Molly and Lou

I am so, so grateful for and excited about how this past year has turned out. I’m lucky to have a husband, family, and friends who have encouraged me to go for it as well as to have incredible clients who let me share in so many intimate, special moments and events in their lives and who have made my job fun and inspiring. I am looking forward to what unfolds over the next year! Thank you, everyone!

J’s parents and littlest (although not so little anymore) siblings visited us this past weekend. Though there was the standard summer storm or two (that’s just while we were at the beach), we had a great time. Highlights: Abigail’s new-found-favorite treat – raspberry gelato from Jolly, Matthew’s almost-birdie at the golf course, Monica’s iced espresso with vanilla ice cream, billiards against pool “dolphin” Alex, and the hours of bliss at the Beach Club – in and out of the pool, riding the waves in the ocean, and snacking on really yummy French fries in the shade. In fact, I’d like to rewind and be back there right now (and apply more sunblock).

Here’s my gorgeous sister-in-law enjoying her sugar smoothie (i.e. caramel frappuccino):

Abigail

And Matthew getting some rest in between dips…

…and some audio from the ocean:

One last shot, taken at Jolly/Epicure after scarfing down delicious gelato… The Campbells don’t go anywhere without their Boston gear. 🙂

I have been waiting to officially (if blogging about it makes it official) congratulate these two very special people on their engagement… I am so, so incredibly happy for my lovely Lu and her now-fiance Chase.

Here are some shots of the in-love, super-happy, and beautiful duo… This was an awesome and emotional day, walking in the North End on Memorial Day Weekend, Chase looking dapper in his uniform and receiving many thanks from random people in the streets, Lucy welling up with tears of pride…  (not to mention the amazing lunch).

And one more that I love:

Last week, I posted some photos of the beautiful Abigail (my sister-in-law) and Danielle. As promised, here are some photos of just Danielle (these are for you, Debbie!)…

Look at those eyes (and they match her hair!):

Danielle

And a few others:

Danielle

I absolutely loved photographing Danielle and Abby. I’m flashing forward to 2014 when they’re graduating high school, doing this again… Wild.

I can’t believe Mykal is about to turn 5… (Check him out here at age 3.) I still feel like he’s a baby, but he’s also as smart and tall as a 10-year-old…

Mykal is J’s cousin Tina’s little guy, and she and her husband Myke are raising quite the adventurer. We ran around the Arnold Arboretum in Boston (Mykal’s shoes being thrown off after about five minutes), and he pointed out all of the different birds, plants, bugs… I should’ve been taking notes.

Here’s the handsome little man with his most amazing eyes:

Mykal

Mykal

Following in his dad’s footsteps… (Happy belated Father’s Day, Myke!)

Mykal

Then there was some jumping, tree-hugging, climbing, laughing, silly-face-making…

Mykal

And then it was time to go home…

Mykal

Happy almost fifth birthday, little guy!

Danny is the son of our very good and longtime friends Mary and Tim. He is, unsurprisingly, absolutely scrumptious, and I’m so glad I finally got to photograph him.

Check out this handsome little man (notice the baseball…):

Danny

And hard not to notice the basketball here. Danny is prepped for a life of Boston sports fandom. (Good thing he doesn’t have a clue what just went on…)

Danny

🙂 The adorable family… (Nice Rozzy representation, Timmy!)
