This weekend we had a long overdue visit with our friends and their adorable Summer. She’s 15 months (and 5 months hearing today!) and one of the happiest little ones I’ve met. She laughs a lot and is so curious. We’re amazed to see how advanced she’s become at hearing in the 5 months since her cochlear implants were activated, and apparently so are her doctors. She hears whispers (and can whisper herself) and has so much to say. The cutest is when her dad asks her, “Summer, what does a gorilla say?” and she responds, “Ooo ooh aah aa!”, making the little gorilla motions with a big smile on her face.
I snapped a few shots, although it was in the evening and inside without a flash (didn’t want to bother her with flashes just before bedtime), so they’re super ISO-y. You get the picture of how sweet she is, though, I think.
Here’s Summer laughing into the camera. She loved seeing the pictures after I took them (she even leaned forward to kiss herself in the image). š
And a fun new toy – water bottles! She took one, promptly left her playroom with it, placed it on the ground right outside the door, and sat proudly next to it, just looking at it and then me, as if to say, “So, what do you think of my sweet new toy?” Look at that expression in the last shot. I want to squeeze those cheeks – and we did… Sorry, guys, hope they’re not red today from all the squeezing and kissing! š
Summer will have a real session soon – this visit was just too late in the day (and it was 35 degrees outside!). We loved seeing her and can’t wait to see the three of them again soon.
