I photographed adorable 6-year-old McKenzie at the beautiful Wade Lagoon by the Cleveland Museum of Art. So fitting for a sweet but mature girl.

Doesn’t this look like a fountain you’d find in Europe? Not what people usually think of when Cleveland comes to mind.

McKenzie

These geese – and their babies! – loved McKenzie (The piece of bread a nice man gave her didn’t hurt, I’m sure.):

And I love this shot of her (aren’t her eyes stunning?):

Happy (belated) 6th birthday, McKenzie!

I just met and photographed brand-new Gianni Lyn, a beautiful and amazingly tiny baby girl. She was almost exactly 7 days old and the perfect newborn model.

Just check out this precious little human!

A pretty perfect little bundle:

And this love from her parents, Jason and Jen… just too much.

Wow newborns are amazing. Excited to watch little G as she grows!

It seems there are themes for my Cleveland trip subjects… February was filled with a bunch of adorable 6-month-old baby boys (like Nathan, Alexander, and Rafi). This May’s sessions were jam-packed with one-year-old girls! I love photographing babies around their first birthdays – so many photo-friendly milestones (walking, clapping, playing, and generally doing more on their own) as well as lots of expressions and activities to capture. Don’t get me wrong, I love the teeny ones, but it was a fun change of pace to work with mini girls.

Chloe was definitely no exception. This little munchkin is full of smiles and sweetness. She loves walking with the assistance of her parents (she took her first steps on her own just after our photo shoot!) and playing in the grass (a new activity!). And her toothy grin is so, so precious.

Here’s the preview of Chloe’s session.

Happy first birthday, Sydney!!

If anyone read my last post, they might be wondering if I’m accidentally repeating myself… but nope, this is another Sydney, also a year old, and actually a friend of the other Sydney!

I photographed this munchkin for the first time in August when she was about three months old. Now the little one is a year old, running around on her own, laughing up a storm, and making funny faces for the camera.

Here are the preview photos…

Look at this expression!

I can’t believe little Sydney is going to be a year old this month… Last year around this time, I was photographing her scrunchy, tiny 2.5-week-old self (check her out!), and now she is a grown-up one-year-old.

I’m sad that I will be missing her first birthday party, which sounds like it will be one fit for “My Super Sweet First Birthday,” if such a show is ever made.

But we did get a session together this May in honor of her first birthday, and here are some previews…

We squeezed in a family shot before focusing on the birthday girl:

Scott, Sydney, and Ali

And now just Sydney…

Playing on her swing set:

This shot I like alone:

And one more shot of this edible one’s sweet face. She has the model look down…

Can’t wait to photograph Sydney as the years go by (but not too fast, please)!

I met little Olive a while ago – She’s in E’s playgroup, and she’s also been in Carolyn’s Kids class at Alexandria School. We set up a shoot for this May for Olive’s one-year photos, and I thought it would be perfect to use the Cleveland Botanical Gardens as a setting… sweet little girl, spring, flowers, plants, butterflies…

Well, Olive has a new-found fear of plants. Check out the poor girl’s panic here:

So no more plants.

Koi pond and stone, good:

In Mom and Dad’s arms away from the swooping butterflies, jungle-like vines, and scary flowers, also good:

Family time on a well-manicured lawn is also nice:

And a deck and backdrop of fake flowers are just great:

I love Olive’s scrunchy sweet smile and amazing blue eyes – and those cheeks, sheesh. Too much!

I photographed little Ben, one of E’s playmates, during this past trip to Cleveland. We’ve tried to set it up the last couple of times I’ve been there, but I think this was perfect timing – 10 months is a really fun age. He is such a happy little guy, full of expressions, and so sweet.

Here’s a family photo of Ben with his parents Ali and Brian. He can barely contain his excitement!
