Twice in one week I’ve watched the sun set over the bay! Not bad… I should really do it more often.

This sunset was extra special because not only was J there, but we also got to spend it with lovely Lu:

Before shooting the festival’s Cinema Tropicale event at the brand new Sarasota Yacht Club (photos to come), I photographed the Hoola Monsters performing outside the movie theater just prior to the screening of the film The Hooping Life (which I now really want to see). These hoopers are incredibly talented and were so much fun to watch (also had an amazing performance at Cinema Tropicale). Here are some shots of the mini-event:

Although I missed opening night and Kevin Kline’s appearances, I’m photographing the Sarasota Film Festival this week (starting just after landing from Israel Saturday). Sunday’s In Conversation With… series featured producer Don Hahn (The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast). His documentary Waking Sleeping Beauty is in the festival and takes a look behind the scenes of Disney during their somewhat tumultuous ’70s and ’80s, when the studio was undergoing a rebuild process.

Don is well-spoken, personable, and brilliant… Both J and I were inspired by his words – encouraged to work hard at what we love to do and not only accept self-doubt and failure but to embrace and be better from them.

Anyway, here are some shots:

J and I celebrated our first anniversary yesterday. 🙂 Although I had to work and he had the Masters to watch, we found a bit of time in the middle of the day to revisit the gorgeous spot where we were married, the Ca d’Zan Mansion at the Ringling Museum. The rain subsided, and the scorching sun came out for our lunchtime trip:

Our wedding photographer, Craig Litten, has our slideshow posted on his site: www.craiglittenphotography.com.

What a great year it has been. 🙂
