Today Dana, my cousin Stav, and I walked around Tel Aviv, which always involves lots of food – eating at cafes, buying snacks at the market, and checking out the gorgeous produce pretty much everywhere. I am nearly falling asleep at the computer, so I’ll keep the musings to a minimum…

Lunch at family friend Roni’s bratwurst stand Frank’s (I didn’t even think I liked brats…):

And escaping the wildness of the street fair at LovEAT Organic Cafe for some “cafe barad” (like a frappucino only amazing) and halva pastry deliciousness:

And one last shot for the day. This sight used to make me drool:

So if you saw my blog Thursday, you know that I photographed one-week-old Charles, born to parents Leymis and Kavin. Here’s a bit more about that shoot – with a bunch of photos, of course!

Leymis and I have been in touch for years through work, and I was very happy to get the opportunity to capture the arrival of her little guy. Although he was due at Christmas (I was eagerly awaiting the news, geared up with my camera for the new tiny man), Charles had other plans and decided to join world outside of his mama’s cozy womb on January 12.

I photographed him when he was exactly one week old. He was a tiny peanut (even being three weeks late), but he was alert and wriggly beyond his years (or days)! While I’d envisioned a blissfully sleepy newborn, I got a wide-eyed model who stared me down as if he were saying, “Yep, I know what I’m doing.” But how they keep you on your toes is part of what’s so fun about photographing babies! And anyway, I do love the expressions of an alert newborn, and Charles looks like he has a lot to think about.

Check him out!

Staring out the window:

I love his expression in this one (actually, I love his expression in all of them, but there’s something about this in particular…):

Looking very cozy in a sea of fuzziness:

Pretending to be falling asleep (good actor, isn’t he?):

Here is my favorite from our little session. Makes me want to scoop him up every time I look at it.

And we’ll end with a collage of some others:

My previous post highlighted the adorable knitted works of OrganicMama’s Shop using photos from little Vivian and Anabella’s sessions, but I think each of the girls deserves her own little post.

Vivian and Anabella’s mothers are two friends who each delivered their baby girls on the same day, and I had the pleasure of meeting them both two and a half weeks later! I met Vivian first, and her awesome mom Kasey and big sister Charlie.

Here are a few from Vivian’s session. Anabella’s to come shortly. (BTW, how gorgeous are their names?!)

Vivian

Basket o' Vivian.

Vivian

Looks like she's on a very important phone call.

Vivian

I can't believe how alert she was, little ham. Look at her fighting sleep and staring right into the camera.

Vivian & Charlie

Vivian gets some love from her big sister (who's quite the model herself).

Charlie

Although Kasey warned Charlie about her unruly hair not being photo-ready, Charlie was ready with an adorable grin the second I turned the lens on her. Can't wait to have a Charlie session and capture her awesome ensembles and poses.

Greta

I just had to include a shot of the beautiful Greta, their one-year-old Golden and possibly the most well-behaved puppy I've seen (and a Golden, no less!). So, so sweet.

Vivian

And one last shot of Vivian looking super scrumptious and finally about ready for a nap.
