J’s parents and littlest (although not so little anymore) siblings visited us this past weekend. Though there was the standard summer storm or two (that’s just while we were at the beach), we had a great time. Highlights: Abigail’s new-found-favorite treat – raspberry gelato from Jolly, Matthew’s almost-birdie at the golf course, Monica’s iced espresso with vanilla ice cream, billiards against pool “dolphin” Alex, and the hours of bliss at the Beach Club – in and out of the pool, riding the waves in the ocean, and snacking on really yummy French fries in the shade. In fact, I’d like to rewind and be back there right now (and apply more sunblock).
Here’s my gorgeous sister-in-law enjoying her sugar smoothie (i.e. caramel frappuccino):

And Matthew getting some rest in between dips…
…and some audio from the ocean:

One last shot, taken at Jolly/Epicure after scarfing down delicious gelato… The Campbells don’t go anywhere without their Boston gear. 🙂

I photographed 7-year-old Aidan and his 2-year-old sister Addison last week. Their parents, the editor and projects director of Edible Sarasota magazine, Tracy and John Freeman, are awesome people, so I knew their kids would be fun to photograph. And they were!
They are both budding stars – They will not be taking the backseat in life, that’s for sure. Aidan already belongs on the screen. This boy is so animated, has not a lick of shyness, and already aspires to be either a GAP model or a cast member on the TV show “iCarly.” Not bad for age 7.
Addy is absolutely hilarious. She goes for what she wants and is knowledgeable beyond her years (“Are these pictures going on Facebook?!”). These two adorable kids are going places, and I’m looking forward to seeing where it is they’re going and what they’ll be doing!
Here’s the good-lookin’ foursome:

Aidan and Addison’s silly faces:

A little bit of Aidan:

And Addison’s adorableness:

And lastly, I think this is my favorite shot of the session – maybe one of my favorites ever:

Thanks for suffering through the heat and hunger with me, guys! 🙂

This past weekend, I photographed Molly and Lou’s wedding. They are not only great people and friends but likely the easiest, nicest clients anyone could ask for.
The wedding took place at Cheeca Lodge & Spa on Islamorada, a gorgeous Florida Keys resort and great getaway for everyone that traveled down for the wedding (even for us Sarasotans). Beautiful tropical waters, lots of activities (fishing, snorkeling, bicycling, etc.), and addictively yummy key lime pie… a perfect setting for a relaxed, fun wedding.
After first run-through of the thousands of photos from the weekend, here’s a little sneak peek.
Happy honeymoon, safe travels, and thank you, Molly and Lou!

Heading to the Keys to shoot a wedding this weekend (congratulations, Molly & Lou!) 🙂 but wanted to quickly post that Edible Sarasota‘s summer 2010 issue is on newsstands now. (And visit them on Facebook.)
Once you get your copy, check out my article and photos on Dakin Dairy Farms:

and Sun Coast Organics home delivery service:

More on both of these to come. Pick up a copy at Whole Foods (where you can also get a jug of Dakin milk) and other locations.
Congratulations to the team at Edible Sarasota for another awesome issue! I’m very proud to be part of such a great magazine, mission, and group of people.
Have a good weekend!

One very wild – and awesome – aspect of “growing up” is watching people you’ve known for a very long time have babies. We recently visited Lisa, one of my sister’s oldest friends, with her husband and brand new 6-week-old peanut Lyla. Here she is, this beautiful girl who doesn’t look any different than she did at age 16, with a beautiful munchkin of her own. Nuts!
Baby Lyla, Todd, and Lisa:

And here’s the little one on her own:

And a nap/snuggle with her mama… What could be cozier?

(Belated) Congratulations, Lis and Todd!

This weekend, I photographed 3-week-old Liam and his family. Although it took us a while to soothe him to sleep for a signature newborn pose, this boy is adorable, alert, and already so handsome (and big!).
Here’s a preview…
Check him out with his gorgeous sister Mia (I adore their names). I love how she is looking at him here, almost like she’s assessing him and his existence in her house. And you can see the amazing blue eyes this family all has:

The whole crew (Liam in his favorite nook):

And Liam with his beautifully blue-eyed and loving parents, Rich and Angie:

And finally, the newborn pose:

Congratulations on the scrumptious addition to the family, Rich, Angie, and Mia!

I’ll be away from my computer (!!!) from June 29 until July 5. Headed to Santa Monica (and Venice, LA, etc.). 🙂

It’s been a newborn kind of month! I love it. 🙂
I met 4-day-old Max (as well as his awesome 6-year-old brother Jake and amazing family), and he was such a sweet, easy little boy. I love that people welcome me into their homes during such a special time and let me share a little bit in their new baby’s adorableness.
Check out this peanut package:

A loving snuggle from his mama:

And lastly, my favorite photo from the session… I love it for many reasons…

It happened sort of by accident (Kim wanted Jake to feed Max to help him relax a bit for this pose, so we took one shot of this, which I didn’t touch in post-processing). It speaks for sure of brotherliness to me (even without the “little brother” outfit Max is wearing, but made more so because of it). It shows how they look alike. It’s so summery. Jake is feeding Max but focused elsewhere (like he’s saying “I’ll take care of you, little guy, but I have other things to do, too.”). And Max is so super teeny next to big-brother Jake… That’s why I love it. Just me?
